    The Arizona Fiduciaries Association has named Pima County Fiduciary Peter Santini Fiduciary of the Year. 

    “I am very proud and honored to have been recognized by my peers with this award,” Santini said. “This award is not only a reflection on my work and dedication but also a reflection of the great work the Public Fiduciary’s office does for our community.”
    The Arizona Fiduciaries Association provides structure, guidance, training and continuing education for licensed fiduciaries. 

    Santini has been with the Pima County Fiduciary’s Office for more than 20 years. He has a B.A. in Sociology and an M.Ed in counseling from Lynchburg College in Virginia and his worked on elderly issues since 1980. 

    The numerous boards he has served on include the Arizona Fiduciaries Association, the Mental Health and Elder Law Section of the Arizona State Bar as well as on the faculty of the Arizona Supreme Court Professional Fiduciary Certification Program and on the Attorney General’s “Stop Abuse & Financial Exploitation of Elderly” (S.A.F.E.E.) Task Force and the Pima County Death Analysis Review Team (PC DART). 

    The Public Fiduciary serves as a court-appointed guardian or conservator for vulnerable adults or people who are incapacitated. The office works to protect the legal rights and financial interests of clients in probate court and as the estate administrator of deceased persons when no one else is willing or capable of serving in that capacity.

    The Public Fiduciary also serves people who are estranged from their families or are subject to abuse or undue influence, have serious mental or physical health issues or have no place else to turn. The Public Fiduciary also determines eligibility and provides cremation or burial for indigent persons.
