After winning its first CONCACAF U-15 Boys’ Championship title in August, the Mexico national team will visit Tucson to play a friendly against a select team of Arizona’s best talent on Sunday, Oct. 22 at Kino’s North Complex, located north of Ajo Way.

Rayados Arizona and the Fort Lowell Soccer Club organized the friendly to bring high-level international youth soccer to Tucson.

Mexican select team“We want to illustrate the passion of our game across national borders and show the youth of Arizona what can be achieved with hard work and dedication,” said Mack Romero, District 2 Commissioner for the Arizona Youth Soccer Association.

The Arizona talent team competing against Mexico includes players from Yuma, Phoenix and Tucson. Many of them play in U.S. Soccer’s national and regional leagues.

“The exhibition game will demonstrate to local players that competition at this level is achievable if they are passionate and committed,” Romero said.

Soccer fans can buy their advance tickets online or get them at the gate on the day of the game. General admission tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids, ages 6-16. Children under 5 years get in free. Gates open at 2 p.m. and the friendly begins at 5 p.m.

Since this is a general admission event, Kino Sports Complex officials encourage the public to read the clear bag policy ahead of time and come prepared to avoid entry delays. Folks with items not included on the “approved items” list will be turned away. In addition, all items will be subject to inspection prior to entry. To discuss special accommodations, the public may call Kino Sports Complex at (520) 724-5466.

Pre-game entertainment will include a mariachi performance and a preview soccer match between Rayados Arizona 03 and Sonora Select 03 from 3-4 p.m. In addition, the public can visit with various vendor booths onsite and enjoy food concessions.

Following the game, soccer fans will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with members of the CONCACAF championship team and also get their soccer memorabilia autographed.
