  • Youth explore criminal justice careers

Nearly 100 young people turned out at the Tucson Police Department Feb. 7, but they weren’t in trouble. The youth were part of a Career Expo focused on justice TPD officers and studentscareers, organized by the Pima County Workforce Investment Board’s Youth Council.

Young people age 16-24 got tours of the TPD Westside Police Service Center and Forensic Laboratory, and attended breakout sessions on cyber-security, Superior Court, the Bomb Squad, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the SWAT team.

The expo also was organized by the Pima County One-Stop Career Center, the Office of the Pima County School Superintendent, Tucson Youth Development and Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center.
