Join the BeWell Pima County Team for Upcoming Heart & Stroke Walk
Join Pima County Benefits and Wellness for the 3.1 mile Heart & Stroke Walk on April 21, 2018 to support the American Heart Association’s efforts in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Cardiovascular disease and stroke are the No.1 killers of Americans.

Participation in the Heart and Stroke Walk promotes fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

 
The Heart & Stroke Walk will take place on April 21 at Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, 900 S. Randolph Way. Check in starts at 4:30 p.m. and the event starts at 5:30 p.m.heart
 
To register for the BeWell Pima County Team or donate to our team’s goal, visit www2.heart.org/goto/BeWell_PimaCounty. Participating in the event qualifies for 5 Healthy Lifestyle Activity Points (HLAPs) by completing the Community Volunteer/Participation Form.
 
 

Annual Enrollment is Coming Soon


Annual Enrollment will run April 30 to May 18, and is the only time that you may make changes to your benefits without a qualifying life event. You will also need to re-certify your tobacco-free status during this time.
 
Annual Enrollment FY 2018/2019 Summary of Changes:
  • Medical Plans: Reduction of bi-weekly premiums for most tiers.
  • NEW Pharmacy vendor: CVS will be our new pharmacy provider.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA): Pima County HSA contributions will occur on a prorated bi-weekly basis beginning July, 2018.
  • Dental Plans: Pima County Dental benefits have been enhanced with no increase in premium.
  • Life Insurance: Enhanced benefits for Supplemental Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and Spouse Life coverage. Guaranteed Issue during Annual Enrollment to increase 1X annual salary for Supplemental Life without Evidence of Insurability (EOI) providing you have not been previously denied. 
  • Deferred Compensation: All existing Pima County deferred compensation 457 accounts will transfer to a new plan, administered by Nationwide in partnership with Arizona State Retirement System. Deferred Compensation deduction changes will be available on-line effective July 1.
 
BeWell Presentations: April 2 – April 20 Attend the upcoming BeWell on-site presentations to learn about the benefit and wellness opportunities available.
 
BeWell Fairs: April 23 – May 17 Representatives from the various benefit plans along with Human Resources staff will be available at the BeWell fairs to answer questions and provide information.

Free and Low Cost Onsite Fitness Classes to Help You with Your Fitness Goals


Did you know that Employee Wellness offers free and low cost onsite fitness classes to all of its employees? These classes are an excellent way to get in a workout during your break. Fitness classes are taught by certified Wellness Council of Arizona instructors and include cardio, strength training, yoga, integrated movement and more! All levels are welcome to attend and modifications are available. To get started, visit the Fitness Classes webpage to view the schedule for a class near you.
 
Classes with a fee use a Fitness Class Punch Card that you purchase from the instructor or Employee Wellness. You can purchase four (4) classes for $10 or ten (10) classes for $20 – cash only. You may also pay a $3 drop in rate in cash if you’d just like to try a class out one time. Currently classes are held at Admin West, Main Library, Abrams Building and Public Works Building. If you are interested in starting a class at your location, please contact employee wellness at wellness@pima.gov or 724-2792.
 
 
Walking at the TCC

When the weather heats up, take a walk inside! During the months of April – October, Pima County employees are invited to walk during their breaks at the Tucsonactive Convention Center (TCC) indoors in Exhibit Halls A, B and C. The halls will be available Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. during non-event days*. Visit the Walking Programs webpage for the monthly calendar of open days and a map of where to enter the exhibit halls.
 
One lap around the entire Exhibit Hall area is roughly 500 steps and four laps around the area is 1 mile. Walkers as asked to keep the area clean and not access other parts of the venue via the glass interior doors or arena tunnel doors. Restrooms in Hall B will be open for use.
 
*The calendar is subject to change without notice based upon TCC’s business needs. If the doors are locked during an open day, please contact Employee Wellness at 724-2792.
