The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Air Program will, again, be participating in Cyclovia Tucson on Sunday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The route that Living Streets Alliance has set for this Cyclovia event will be from the Lost Barrio area south of Broadway along Park Avenue through the Miles, Rincon Heights and Sam Hughes neighborhoods ending at Himmel Park near Speedway and Tucson Boulevard. PDEQ will set up our booth at Himmel Park along with several other Pima County departments to provide free, fun, interactive, family-oriented educational activities. Thousands of people will be out on the car-free streets walking, skating, biking and meeting new neighbors while using human-powered, pollution-free active modes of transportation.cyclovia
“It is such a fun and air-healthy event. Everyone attends to have a good time, get to know an interesting part of town, and enjoy our amazing desert community,” said Beth Gorman, PDEQ Clean Air Senior Program Manager. “My favorite part of Cyclovia Tucson is seeing the smiles plastered over all the faces and the little ones gaining self-confidence by learning to use their tricycles or skates on car-free streets alongside family and friends. The joy is utterly contagious!”
Living Streets Alliance has been presenting Cyclovia Tucson to the community for over eight years and it has grown to one of the region’s largest events, drawing as many as 30,000 people celebrating safely in the streets. PDEQ’s Clean Air Program has been a sponsor of Cyclovia since it began because the event provides opportunities for people to get out of their vehicles and become more comfortable using alternative modes of transportation.
