PACC dog for Mother's DayNeed a last-minute gift for mom that she’ll love just as much as you? Take her to Pima Animal Care Center and let her pick out a new pet. Starting today through Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13, families can name their own adoption fee on any PACC pet.

This adoption special comes in anticipation of summer season, which is PACC’s busiest time of year when, on any given day, it can take in more than 60 pets a day. With nearly 500 pets already living at PACC’s shelter, shelter staff say they’re close to reaching max capacity.

“This is the time of year when we have the best selection of puppies and kittens, dogs and cats,” said PACC Director Kristen Auerbach. “Whatever age, size or breed you’re looking for, there is a good chance you can find it here at PACC.”

To help place deserving pets with loving new homes, PACC’s Mother’s Day adoption special, happening May 11 – 13, gives families the flexibility of deciding how much to pay for their pet’s adoption fee. The fee also includes the pets spay or neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, and a voucher for free vet visit. A separate $18 licensing fee will still apply to adult dogs.

Not sure if your family is ready for a full-time pet? Consider fostering one instead. Fostering will give your family the opportunity to see what it would be like to have a pet full-time without making the commitment. Foster placements can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and, best of all, fosters still get to pick their pet.

If you’re interested in adding a pet to the family permanently or fostering one temporarily, visit PACC’s shelter. It’s open from noon – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the weekends. For other ways to help PACC, visit its website at pima.gov/animalcare.
