  • Kino Sports Complex hosts All-Star baseball games May 29

    Recently graduated baseball players from over 20 Southern Arizona high schools will participate in the 2018 Southern Arizona High School All-Star Baseball Games powered by BSN Sports and Under Armour. The games begin at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 at the Kino Sports Complex south fields. 

    high school baseball at KinoThe All-Star event consists of four games featuring high school graduates and future class players from several Division 1A – 6A Southern Arizona schools. Coaches from each high school nominated two to three players to play. 

    All games will take place simultaneously on separate fields:

    Class of 2018 Division 1A – 3A: Field 4
    Class of 2018 Division 4A – 6A: Field 5
    Futures Class Division 1A – 3A: Field 6
    Futures Class Division 4A – 6A: Field 7

    Gates open to the public at 5:30 p.m. General admission is $7 for adults, $2 for students with school ID, and free for kids 12 and under. Free parking included. Concession items will be available for purchase. The Complex does not allow outside food or beverage, with the exception of one store bought water bottle or sports drink. 

    Participating Division 1A – 3A schools include: Catalina, Pusch Ridge, Sabino, Empire, Tanque Verde, Sabino, Bisbee, Willcox, Benson, Morenci, Tanque Verde, Santa Rita, San Miguel, Valley Union, St. Augustine, Safford and Sahuarita. Catalina and Sahuarita high school coaches will lead the 1A – 3A Senior All-Star Game and Empire and Safford high school coaches the Future All-Star Game.  

    Division 4A – 6A schools include: Rincon, Rio Rico, Marana, Flowing Wells, Pueblo, Tucson, Vista Grande, Palo Verde, Ironwood Ridge, Mountain View, Buena, Nogales, Cienega, CDO, Salpointe, Cataline Foothills, Amphi, Douglas, Cholla, Sahuaro, Desert View, Walden Grove and Sunnyside. Coaches from Tucson and Catalina Foothills will lead the 4A – 6A Senior All-Star Game and Nogales and Flowing Wells high school coaches the Future All-Star Game.  

    The Kino Baseball League started the competition in 2015. Recently, the league entered into a five-year agreement with BSN Sports and Under Armour as the presenting sponsors. This year, they’re providing the game jerseys for the event.
