    Event Spotlight: Attractions and Tourism

    “Three Amigos” Screening at Old Tucson

    'The Three Amigos'/Credit L.A. Films 
    Wherever there is injustice, you will find them. Wherever there is suffering, they’ll be there. Wherever liberty is threatened, you will find... The Three Amigos!

    The famous movie location will screen the comedy classic staring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase as pampered, bumbling silent film stars recruited to rid a Mexican village of bandits, much of which was filmed at Old Tucson and other local spots. Tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Water Safety Expo

    Every child drowning is preventable and August is a peak time for those incidents in Arizona. This free event features a life jacket giveaway to the first 250 youngsters plus the always fun "Ghost Ship" obstacle course, the pool's waterslide and firetrucks.

    The event is part of Drowning Impact Awareness Month and is co-sponsored by the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona, Drexel Heights Fire District, and the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association Inc. The Skin Cancer Institute at the University of Arizona will provide a sunscreen station.

    The pool will remain open until 7 p.m. for recreational swimming.

    Stadium Seats: Kino Sports Complex Events

    Pima College Soccer

    The Aztec Women's and Men's sides host their first home stand of the season, welcoming the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Coyotes and the Pumas of Paradise Valley C.C. to Tucson.

    Both programs are looking to build on successful 2017-2018 campaigns that included playoff appearances. The Pima men start the year ranked fourth in the NJCAA poll while the women are unranked.

    ”Get Back on Your Bike” Class

    WHEN: 8 - 10 a.m.
    WHERE: Himmel Park Library, 1035 N. Treat Av.
    DESCRIPTION: Join us for an easy 2-hour ride where we get you set up and ready to ride, discuss basic bike topics, and ride local streets to familiarize yourself with how to operate your bike safely. Participants must be able to already ride a bike. Recommended for adults and youth ages 16 and up; 13-15 okay with a parent. Participants receive a free reflective leg band, front/rear reflective bike tape and free patch kit.

    PACC Pet Adoption Events

    WHEN: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    WHERE: PetSmart, 4374 N. Oracle Rd. | 1175 W. Irvington Rd.
    DESCRIPTION: Pima Animal Care Center waives all adoption fees this weekend at its partner PetSmart stores on Tucson’s North Side and in Midvale Park, as well as the main PACC shelter, 4000 North Silverbell Road, the community's only open-admission shelter. All five of PACC’s partner PetSmart locations - 3850 West River Road, 4740 East Grant Road, and 3695 East Broadway Boulevard as well as the Oracle Road and Spectrum Mall stores - also offer cat and kitten adoptions seven-day-a-week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All pets adopted from PACC are microchipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and come with a free vet visit.

    Bicycle Bell Give-Away

    WHEN: 6:30 - 9:30 a.m.
    WHERE: Augie Acuña Los Ninos Park, 5432 S. Bryant Av.
    DESCRIPTION: Pima County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program heads to Tucson's southeast side, handing out free bicycle bells on a first come, first-served basis on the Julian Wash Greenway. The bells are adjustable and fit any diameter handlebars on all bikes. Bike Ambassadors also will have copies of 2018 Loop maps and bike and pedestrian safety bookmarks to help people understand how to safely share the path.
