    Event Spotlight: Pima Animal Care Center

    Dog Days of Summer at Old Tucson

    PACC is a proud sponsor of this event offering something the ENTIRE family can do on Labor Day weekend. Be sure to bring your dogs out for some diving fun — see how high they’ll go! There will also be rattlesnake avoidance demonstrations, free nail trimming and ear cleaning, doggie massages, prize giveaways and more!

    Regular admission for adults is $19.95, with senior, military and Pima County resident discounts available. Kids 11 and under get in free!

    Book Nook: Pima County Public Library Events

    Pajama Storytime Session

    There's always something fun happening during Pajama Storytime. We'll read stories and learn about other good books to read. We sometimes may do crafts, listen to music, or sometimes even watch a puppet show together!

    Pajama Storytime is offered every Tuesday evening at the Valencia Branch. Each session runs about 45 minutes.

    All ages welcome.

    Pima College Soccer

    The Aztecs look to cut out the hearts of the Artichokes for the fourth year in a row following a two-game road trip. Both Pima sides have dominated the series with Scottsdale lately with the No. 4-ranked men going 6-0 and the women 5-1.

    So far this season sophomore Hugo Kametani leads the men in scoring with all four of his goals coming August 28 against Paradise Valley Community College.

    Learn about the ecology and traditional uses of the Sonoran Desert’s signature species and perhaps the most iconic cactus around, the saguaro cactus. Discuss the importance of saguaros to native wildlife, as well as native peoples of the Sonoran Desert. All ages welcome. Free.

    Bicycle Bell Give-Away

    WHEN: 6:30 - 9:30 a.m.
    WHERE: Michael Perry Park, 8700 E. Arbor St. (Pantano River Park, east bank)
    DESCRIPTION: Pima County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program heads to the East Side this weekend, handing out free bicycle bells on a first come, first-served basis on the Pantano River Park. The bells are adjustable and fit any diameter handlebars on all bikes. Bike Ambassadors also will have copies of Loop maps that fold down to business-card size and new bike and pedestrian safety bookmarks to help people understand how to safely share the path.

    PACC Pet Adoption Events

    WHEN: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    WHERE: PetSmart, 4374 N. Oracle Rd. | 3695 E. Broadway Bl. | 3850 W. River Rd.
    DESCRIPTION: Pima Animal Care Center waives all adoption fees at its partner PetSmart stores on Tucson’s North Side, in Midtown and Marana, as well as the main PACC shelter, 4000 North Silverbell Road - the community's only open-admission shelter. All five of PACC’s partner PetSmart locations - 4740 East Grant Road, 1175 West Irvington Road and the Oracle-Wetmore Shopping Center, El Con and Marana Marketplace stores - also offer cat and kitten adoptions seven-day-a-week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All pets adopted from PACC are microchipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and come with a free vet visit voucher.

    Labor Day

    All County departments, including all library branches, will be closed in observance of Labor Day — except for County swimming pools, open from 1-5 p.m., and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency response agencies, which will maintain regular operations.
