Photo of dogPima Animal Care Center is offering up a special deal to help you find your new best friend. Adopt a pet between July 30 and Aug. 18 and get your adoption fee waived in honor of PACC’s participation in the nationwide “Clear the Shelters” campaign. A standard $19 licensing fee will apply to adult dogs.

To help find homes for these dogs and cats, PACC is partnering with Telemundo, which will air a special day-long program on Aug. 18 to highlight the importance of pet adoption and the capacity issues animal shelters face, particularly during the summer months when cats and dogs are giving birth to litters of kittens and puppies. This will air at KHRR-TV Channel 40 Tucson.

“PACC is nearing capacity with more than 700 pets in the shelter,” said Shelter Director Kristen Auerbach. “This is the time of year when you’ll find the best selection of pets of all breeds, ages and sizes.”

The campaign is spearheaded by the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations Division of NBCUniversal. Since this effort began in 2015, more than 150,000 pets have found homes.

You can see PACC Pets online or you can visit them at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road. Adopted pets will come spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and with one free vet visit.
