    File: gavelThe Pima County Commission on Trial Court Appointments has one vacancy for residents of District Two, represented by Supervisor Ramón Valadez.

    District 2 includes the City of South Tucson, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, a large portion of the City of Tucson and parts of unincorporated Pima County (South of Broadway and East of Interstate 19) as well as a large sections of Sahuarita including Rancho Sahuarita. 

    Members of the Commission, which screens applicants for Pima County Superior Court judicial positions, are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Arizona Senate.

    Applicants for this position must satisfy the following requirements:
    • Resident of Arizona for at least five years
    • Resident of District Two for at least one year
    • Registered voter with the same political party or as an independent for at least two years
    • Cannot hold a paid elective or appointed governmental position
    • Cannot be a judge, retired judge, or lawyer admitted to practice in Arizona
    Commission members are required to attend an orientation meeting, regular meetings of the Commission and to complete the necessary work for screening and recommendation of judicial candidates to the Governor.
