The United States Air Force has re-opened the scoping comment period for the F-35 Beddown Environmental Impact Statement. The comment period will close again Aug. 27.

Below is a joint statement from District 2 Supervisor Ramon Valadez and Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry about the County's support for Davis Monthan’s and the U.S. Air Force's efforts to gather public input:
Pima County has long supported the missions at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMAFB) and will continue to do so to ensure its continued military presence.   DMAFB not only contributes to our local community and our national defense, but with a $2.6 billion economic impact in Pima County, it is an integral part of our local economy. The U.S. Air force issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Air Force Reserve Command F-35A Operational Beddown. DMAFB is one of four bases being considered. In support of the Air Force’s continuing public outreach efforts, Pima County would like to assist in notifying our community that the Air Force has issued an amended NOI and extended the scoping comment period for 10 working days due to an incorrect courier delivery address in the initial NOI.
