  • Pima County’s annual GIS Fair set for Nov. 9

    Pima County ITD Geographic Information Systems will host the 21st Annual Pima County GIS Fair Friday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the County-City Public Works Building, 201 N. Stone Ave., Basement Conference Room C.

    Government staff, businesses, and the general public can hear presentations and try out the latest GIS tools at the free fair. The theme is “GIS and a Changing Earth.”

    Presentations include:
    • Eagleview – “GIS from Every Angle: The Imagery It’s Changin’,” 10 a.m.;
    • Westland Resources, Inc. –  “Historic Building Recording: Drones, 3D Software and Archaeologist,” 11 a.m.; and
    • Lightning Round – a collection of five-minute mini-talks given by individuals or organizations, noon.
    In addition to presentations, participants can visit 20 different exhibitors. Drawing for prizes will take place throughout the day. Attendees also can munch on free popcorn and try to guess the “Where in the World” locations from aerial photographs.
