  • Public review of Community Wildfire Protection Plan sought

    The Pima County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has initiated the development of the Pima County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) in accordance with requirements of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003.

    Pima Emergency Communications and Operations CenterThe CWPP will analyze all communities at risk from wildland fire within Pima County and will establish a series of recommendations to reduce wildland vegetative fuel and structural ignitibility. The plan will also enhance public outreach and education about the effects of wildland fire in the urban interface.

    Recommendations within the CWPP when implemented are designed to reduce the threat of unwanted wildfire to communities.

    Pima County has established a Core Team of agency resource specialists in wildland fire to conduct the analysis process. The Core Team has established the Wildland Urban Interface boundary, determined wildland vegetation fuel hazard, and structure/infrastructure analyses.
