  • Geographic Information Systems Fair was big success

More than 300 people attended the annual Pima County Geographic Information Systems Fair (GIS) last month.

This year’s fair was the most-attended in the event’s 21-year history.  GIS Fair

Thanks to the generosity of Westland Resources and Eagle View, the GIS staff was able to provide lunch and coffee for attendees, who perused the 20 booths and attended presentations. Attendees also enjoyed popcorn and competing in the annual Where in the World? aerial photo contest.

Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation won the Best Booth Award for the second year in a row! Their booth featured Esri StoryMaps that chronicled The Arizona Pure Water Brew Challenge, public events that the PWBC team has attended, and the awesome breweries that participated in the competition.

Other participants included the City of Tucson, EagleView, Pima County, Quiet Creek Corporation, Pima Association of Governments, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, University of Arizona, Rick Engineering, and WestLand Resources Inc.

"Thanks to all who attended or hosted a booth – you are what make our GIS community so vibrant and inclusive," Al Jimenez, GIS senior analyst and event organizer, said. "A special thanks to everyone who sponsored food or donated prizes, and the multi-jurisdictional GIS Fair Committee for putting together another great event. We look forward to seeing you at the 22nd annual GIS Fair!"
