  • Brian Powell named Park Superintendent

    Brian Powell has been appointed the new Park Superintendent in the Natural Resources Division in Natural Resources Parks and Recreation. Powell had been with Pima County for 11 years, including the past seven years with the Office of Sustainability and Conservation.Powell

    “I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked on such a diversity of natural resource issues, projects and programs during my time at OSC,” Powell said. “These opportunities have been made all the more meaningful and successful because of the dedication and team-oriented nature of my fellow County employees. I am excited to move over to Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation where I can continue to work with — and learn from — so many great people.”
    During that time he has led the development and implementation of Pima County’s Ecological Monitoring Program. 

    Powell also recently drafted Pima County’s Aquatic Species Management Plan and is a member of the planning team for the Bingham Cienega Management Plan. He’s a member of the Altar Valley Conservation Alliance’s Science Advisory Board and also a Pima County representative with several collaborative watershed groups. 

    He has an extensive background in wildlife management and experience in ecological monitoring, community collaboration, and natural resource management.
