    BeWell in 2019

    In anticipation for the New Year, the Employee Benefits and Wellness team is kicking off a new campaign to help educate and empower Pima County employees to better understand their benefits and how to best utilize them. Beginning in January 2019, employees may attend either on-site workshops or webinars to learn about the various benefit and wellness (BeWell) programs available to them, including:

    • Being a Smart Healthcare Consumer
    • Planning for Retirement
    • Utilizing your Medical and Pharmacy Benefits
    • And more!

    Workshops and webinars range from 30 – 50 minutes in length.

    Employee Wellness encourages you to earn your premium discounts for next July

    February 28, 2019 is the deadline to submit eligibility documents for 2019/2020 Healthy Lifestyle Premium Discounts (“HLPD”). If you would like to save up to $910 off your medical premiums next fiscal year, please complete the following:
    • Discount #2 - $5 per paycheck: Complete an on-line health assessment at www.aetna.com.
    • Discount #3 - $5 per paycheck: Complete a preventive exam – learn more here.
    • Discount #4 - $5 per paycheck: Participate in healthy lifestyle programs and activities and earn at least 100 Healthy Lifestyle Activity Points. Check out the Employee Wellness webpage for our current options.
    If you are tobacco free, remember that you’ll certify your tobacco free status during the Spring 2019 Annual Enrollment to continue to receive Discount #1 - $20 per paycheck.

    Enhanced Healthy Lifestyle Premium Discounts program coming soon! Pima County will continue to reward employees for making smart, healthy decisions, but starting next reporting year in March 2019, the way employees will earn the discounts will change slightly. Keep an eye out for more information within the next couple of months.


    No Weight Gain Contest weigh outs week of January 7, 2019

    Did you participate in the No Weight Gain contest this holiday season? Don’t forget to weigh out and submit your Certificate of Completion. Weigh outs must occur between the dates of January 7 – 11, 2019, either at an onsite weigh-out event or at home. It’s recommended to weigh out on the same scale that you weighed in on.
    Earn up to 30 Healthy Lifestyle Activity Points and a chance to win one of twenty $100 Corporate Rewards gift cards.*

    Mobile Onsite Mammography (M.O.M.) Screenings are back in February

    February 4 – 8, 2019 – M.O.M. will be back to provide high quality, convenient and confidential mammography screenings for all Pima County employees and their family members. These screenings qualify for Healthy Lifestyle Premium Discount # 3 – Preventive Exam.

    Wear red Friday, February 1 for heart disease and stroke awareness

    Join the fight against heart disease, the number 1 killer of American women and men, by pledging to wear red on Friday, February 1, 2019, and educate yourself on the risks, warning signs and prevention of heart disease and stroke. Visit the Wear Red Day webpage to download the Wear Red Day Certificate and review the materials. Submit by Friday, February 8, 2019, to qualify for 5 Healthy Lifestyle Activity Points.

    World TB Day event is in need of volunteers

    The TB Clinic, in partnership with the Health Department and community partners, is hosting its 4th annual World TB Day event on March 23, 2019, at the Kino Sports Complex and Sam Lena Park, 3400 S. Country Club Rd. World TB Day is an internationally recognized day used to commemorate a historically significant day in science and medicine. The day is dedicated toward increasing awareness about tuberculosis, a deadly disease which affects people all over the globe. The event will include a fun run and walk, a community wellness and resource fair, and other activities. We invite County employees to volunteer and/or participate in this event, earn wellness points, and have some fun!
