Manzanita Park is one of the heaviest utilized parks in the southern part of Pima County, including the existing pool that often meets capacity (turns away users) during the summer months. This project was funded in order to install a splash pad, which has extended use from April to October and can help cover neighborhood needs during the busy summer months for water recreational activities when the pool is at capacity.

The project installed a new splash pad with many different play toys including several different types of interactive play and a super soaker bucket splash. Additional amenities include shade ramadas with tables, seating benches, fencing, connections to existing parking and the required pool equipment to operate the pad. The project was initially budgeted lower, but as it continued, additional grant dollars were allocated to include more park ramadas, helpful for shade and rest during the summer months.
The project opened at the end of July, with a community ceremony including the Bert W. Martin Foundation representatives.
