    Long-sought Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Area finally a reality
    Southern Arizona and Pima County got a great bit of news March 12 when President Trump signed the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act.

    New jail population coordinator hired to reduce inmate numbers
    Pima County’s continuing efforts to safely lower its jail population received a boost March 11 with the addition of Mike Steber to the Sheriff’s Department’s corrections staff as jail population coordinator.The Sheriff’s Department created the new post to identify inmates who can be released safely while waiting for their court hearings.

    School visits by librarians build positive relationships 
    When staff librarian Angela Harper visits Tully Elementary to read with the students, it reinforces the idea that libraries are more than places for learning. They're fun. It's why Library staff visited more than 240 local schools in 2018.

    KFMA Day returns to Kino Sports Complex 
    The 20th annual KFMA Day, southern Arizona’s largest outdoor concert festival, returns March 23 to Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way. This year’s entertainment includes performances by Shinedown, Papa Roach, Asking Alexandria and The Fever 333.
