    Car Seat Safety Event

    Making sure your car seat is properly installed is the first step in keeping kids safe. Experts with the Pima County
    Sheriff’s Department offer FREE car seat checks as part of Tucson Medical Center’s Annual Be Safe Saturday across
    from TMC's Children's Clinic Square and Compass Building.

    Visitors also can check out 100 interactive booths providing fun health and safety education, demonstrations
    and pick up free bike helmets and booster seats - free child ID fingerprinting too.

    Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting

    Bicycle Traffic Skills 101

    WHEN: 6 - 8:30 p.m.
    WHERE: Tucson Endurance Performance Center, 6448 N. Oracle Rd.
    DESCRIPTION: This two-part course is a primer for those cyclists who wish to gain a full understanding of how to safely operate a bicycle in a variety of situations. Lessons include safety and repairs, state and local laws and riding gear. Participants will go for a ride and practice bike safety skills in a parking lot. Recommended for adults and youth ages 16 and up; ages 13 to 15 permitted with a parent. Participants will receive a choice of free item from the list of safety items and will receive front/rear reflective bike tape and a free patch kit. Part two of the course is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same location.

    Bike Mechanics Class

    WHEN: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
    WHERE: Ward Six Council Office, 3202 E. First St.
    DESCRIPTION: This class will focus on basic mechanical aspects of the bicycle and will include repair and adjustment of the most common problems. Includes flat tire repair, changing and lubing chains, brakes derailleur adjustment, changing and adjusting cables, wrapping handlebar tape, adjusting spokes and recommendations for assembling a tool kit. Bring your bikes and plan on getting your hands dirty! Class size is limited to 10 people. Participants will receive a choice of one free item from the list of safety items and will receive front/rear reflective bike tape and a free patch kit.

    PACC  Adoption Special

    DESCRIPTION: Pima Animal Care Center is teaming with Petco to save people some green for St. Patrick’s Day. On March 17 at the E. Wetmore location only, fees will be waived for pets four months or older. In addition, Pima Animal Care Center is offering $17 adoptions for all pets four months or older through March 17 at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell.   Available animals vary each weekend. All adopted pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and come with a free vet visit.

    Housing Commission Meeting

    WHEN: 3 p.m.
    WHERE: Pima County Housing Center, 801 W. Congress St.
    DESCRIPTION: The commission seeks to increase the amount of housing in Pima County that is affordable to low and median income families, and to oversee and assure public accountability for Pima County Housing Bond Funds. The Commission also is intended to develop a Pima County Affordable Housing Strategy, for approval by the Board of Supervisors, and promote collaborative housing projects with for-profit and non-profit housing providers. Additionally the Commission reviews and recommends uses of Pima County Housing Bond funds and annually report to the Board of Supervisors on the status of Housing Bond Funds, the Housing Trust Fund and the affordable housing programs.
