    PACC participating in massive adoption event
    Pima Animal Care Center is joining several other local shelters and rescue groups for the mega adoption fair, Adopt Love. Adopt Local, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Hall of the Tucson Expo Center, 3750 E. Irvington Road. 

    County employees donate $319,000 to local charities
    Pima County’s Employee Combined Appeal Program on April 11 celebrated another successful campaign with a luncheon at the  Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center, 1660 W. Ruthrauff Road. Employees donated $319,858 to more than 250 non-profit organizations.

    PVHS, Las Artes accepting students for April program sessions
    Two Pima County programs that assist at-risk students in graduating high school are accepting applications for entry into sessions starting in April. Pima Vocational High School starts its next session April 23. Las Artes begins on April 29.

    Native Plant Nursery, Cactus Society launching internship program
    Pima County’s Native Plant Nursery and the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society are offering an eight-week summer internship to a student interested in conservation and horticulture. The student can work a flexible schedule, totaling 20 hours a week over eight weeks this summer.

    Excellent budget work adds up to national award for Pima County Finance 
    Pima County recently received the highest form of recognition granted by a national association of finance and budget experts.Last month, the Government Finance Officers Association presented the Finance and Risk Management Department with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 21st consecutive year.

    Tours offered of Canoa Ranch gardens
    Raydine Taber from the Green Valley Gardeners will lead guided tours of the gardens of Historic Canoa Ranch the third Wednesday of every month. The first tour is set for April 17, 9-10:30 a.m.

    Give the gift of food and lower your library fines
    Library customers can pay overdue fines and help support the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona during Food for Fines, April 15-30.

    Pima Animal Care Clinic needs fosters
    Pima Animal Care Center staff needs fosters to help them care for the greatest number of pets they’ve seen in months. The shelter is housing about 400 dogs and 100 cats. That number is expected to increase as the shelter sees more kittens being born across the county.
