    Congressman to help celebrate National Heritage Area designation
    Congressman Raúl Grijalva will speak at a May 4 event at Green Valley’s Historic Canoa Ranch celebrating the Congressional designation of the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area focused on the Santa Cruz River from the Mexico border north to Pima County. The event begins at 9 a.m. and will include tours of the ranch, where Grijalva grew up.




    El Tour de Tucson organizers pay remaining debt owed to County
    Pima County has received the final past-due payment from Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, Inc., reimbursing the County for its support of the 2018 El Tour de Tucson bicycle race. Pima County has supported the El Tour de Tucson race since its inception in 1983.




    Hundreds of high schoolers expected for Law Day at Superior Court
    High school students from across Pima County will join the Superior Court and the Pima County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division for presentations and a court visit in celebration of Law Day. More than 250 students are expected to attend the April 29 event. Local attorney John C. Richardson, a shareholder in the Tucson office of DeConcini McDonald Yetwin and Lacy, P.C., will be the keynote speaker taking on the topic “Student Speech and the First Amendment.”




    Library's One Seed, One Community initiative in full bloom
    As the Pima County Public Library continues to grow participation in its One Seed Pima County initiative, staff are inviting members of the public to join in planting seeds for this season’s chosen plant, the Black Russian Sunflower in your community or school garden.

    Get free car seat at May 2 safety class
    The Pima County Sheriff's Department will offer a car seat safety class from 6 to 9 p.m. May 2. One car seat per family will be given to participants, who must RSVP to Sarah.Philpott@sheriff.pima.gov.


    County issues air quality watch
    The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality Clean Air Program has issued a Health Watch for April 25 and 26 due to forecasted elevated levels of ground-level ozone air pollution in the Tucson metropolitan area.
