  • Community Forums on Proposed Tobacco Ordinance Changes

    people taking notes at meetingThe Pima County Health Department (PCHD) is hosting community stakeholder meetings to discuss proposed county ordinance changes. The proposed changes would:
    1. Raise the minimum legal age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21 years old
    2. Create a retail permit system for tobacco retailers in unincorporated Pima County
    3. Amend language to the current smoking ordinance to include electronic nicotine delivery systems
    These meetings are an opportunity for the public to provide feedback and ask questions about the proposed changes. PCHD invites community members to attend any of the following forums:
    • February 25, 2019 at Oro Valley Public Library, 4 pm – 5 pm
    • February 26, 2019 at Flowing Wells Library, 3 pm – 4 pm
    • February 27, 2019 at Caviglia-Arivaca Library, 4 pm – 5pm
    • February 28, 2019 at Quincie Douglas Library, 1 pm – 2 pm
    • February 28, 2019 at Joyner-Green Valley Library, 5 pm – 6pm
    • March 1, 2019 at Dewhirst-Catalina Library, 3 pm – 4pm
    • March 4, 2019 at Abrams Public Health Center, 6 pm – 7pm

    If you cannot attend in person, PCHD welcomes your feedback via this form. Comments must be received before noon on March 8th to be included in PCHD’s report to the Board of Health.
