The existing pavement was milled, paved shoulders with asphaltic concrete were added, and an asphaltic concrete overlay was completed for a segment of Thornydale Road, from north of Cortaro Farms Road to Camino Del Norte, a length of approximately 3.4 miles.
The last time any maintenance was performed on Thornydale Road was 1995; the pavement was in failing condition. The resurfacing is projected to remain in good condition for at least ten years.
New state-of-the-art traffic control cameras were added to the Linda Vista Blvd. and Overton Road intersections which will make the signals more efficient.
The resurfacing of the main line of Thornydale Road had to be accelerated to accommodate the re-routed El Tour de Tucson which was held on Nov. 17, 2018.
