Road workOn Monday, May 20 through Saturday, May 25, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Pima County Department of Transportation along with their contractor, The Ashton Company, will begin lime treatment eastbound on Valencia Road from Vahalla Road to S. Iberia Avenue.

The work will consist of spreading lime on the prepared grade to stabilize and improve the workability of the soil, then water will be added to help compact it to a maximum density until the next lift or layer is added.

Intermittent closures will be necessary to complete this activity which should last through next week.

Crews will continue working on subgrade, drop inlets, sleeves for irrigation, installation of handrails and inlet headwalls and adjusting manholes throughout the project.

Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

The Regional Transportation Authority is a state-established political subdivision within Pima County that collects a half-cent excise tax from the RTAs special taxing district. The tax funds the RTAs 20-year regional transportation plan, which voters in the district approved in May 2006 along with the excise tax. To date, the RTA has invested over $1 billion in the region to deliver transportation projects and services that improve our region’s mobility, safety, economic vitality and quality of life. The Valencia Road project, Wade to Ajo is part of the RTA plan and is managed by Pima County. Please visit www.RTAmobility.com for more information.
