Road WorkOn Monday, July 15 through Tuesday, July 16, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Pima County Department of Transportation along with their contractor, The Ashton Company, will shift traffic to the eastbound lanes.

The work will consist of switching traffic to the newly paved eastbound lanes of Valencia Road and placing raised pavement markers (RPM).

Crews will begin work on the westbound lanes and continue working on curb and sidewalk, concrete landings, channel lining, handrails and inlet headwalls throughout the project.

Motorists can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed. Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies and flagger’s will be directing traffic throughout the work zone. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur due to intermittent closures during this work.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

The Regional Transportation Authority is a state-established political subdivision within Pima County that collects a half-cent excise tax from the RTAs special taxing district. The tax funds the RTAs 20-year regional transportation plan, which voters in the district approved in May 2006 along with the excise tax. To date, the RTA has invested over $1 billion in the region to deliver transportation projects and services that improve our region’s mobility, safety, economic vitality and quality of life. The Valencia Road project, Wade to Ajo is part of the RTA plan and is managed by Pima County. Please visit www.RTAmobility.com for more information.
