  • Court Night offers free legal help for Pima County residents

    The Superior Court in Pima County and the Pima County Bar Association, will offer Court Night Oct. 15 at the Abrams Public Health Center, 3950 S. Country Club Road. Free legal information sessions will be offered at both 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., so attendees can choose the time that best fits their schedule or catch the two different sessions, each 75 minutes long.  

    The presentations are designed to help folks learn about important legal issues that may affect their daily life. They  include:Law books
    • “Divorce/Custody” (how to untie the knot, and modifications after the divorce is finalized); 
    • “Probate / Guardianship / Conservatorship” (how one legally passes assets to their beneficiaries; 
    • The legal processes involved in caring for aging or incapacitated parents, kids or adults; and
    • “What is ‘Dependency’?” presented for the first time by Karen Jordan, Esq. from Pima County Juvenile Court.
    Court Night presenters are local attorneys and professionals who have practical in-depth knowledge of the topics. After a brief introduction, they will walk listeners through the processes, and concentrate on fundamental legal questions. They cannot, however, address specific cases, and legal advice will not be given. 

    Pima County justice partners, agencies, and court departments on-hand to answer questions will include:
    Spanish-speaking interpreters will be available during the event.  Other language support may be requested by calling 520-724-3888.
