Chip sealBeginning Monday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 30, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Pima County Department of Transportation along with its contractor, Southern Arizona Paving, will begin chip seal and fog coat operations along South Houghton Road.

Monday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 30: Crews will begin chip sealing and fog coating from the north entrance of Andrada Polytechnic High School (APHS) to Sahuarita Road.

Thursday, October 31 to Friday, November 1: Striping lay out, from Brekke Road to Sahuarita Road.

Permanent striping and raised pavement marker installation is scheduled for late November, weather permitting.

Message boards will be placed on site this Friday, October 18 and into next week to alert traffic of upcoming changes to construction. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices.

Heavy delays are likely and motorists are asked to seek alternate routes and to plan ahead. Motorists may use Wilmot Road or Wentworth Road as alternate routes that both lead to I-10.

The project will improve safety and preserve the existing pavement along Houghton Road from APHS south to Andrada Road and will include seal coat from Andrada Rd to Sahuarita Road. The project is scheduled to be completed by fall of 2019.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.
