File: Construction Career DayMore than 3,800 students from 60 different schools across Pima County will get to explore careers in the building trades during the Sixth Annual Southern Arizona Construction Career Days on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. Sixth Ave.

Again this year, the Pima County One-Stop Career Center joins the Arizona Transportation Builders Association to sponsor the activities scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The media is invited to attend this event, which gives students a first-hand look at many aspects of the construction industry including architecture, engineering and design, plus infrastructure, utilities and more through interactive, hands-on activities such as operating backhoes, mini-excavators, and other equipment. Additionally, expert masons, carpenters, electricians, welders and other tradespeople will lead demonstrations of their skills.

Arizona's construction sector shows signs of continued job growth, with some industry analysts predicting demand for 200,000 new positions over the next decade, 35,000 in Pima County alone.
