Gilbert RayThe Gilbert Ray Campground, 8451 W. McCain Loop Road, on the west side of Tucson Mountain Park, will begin accepting online reservations effective Jan. 2, 2020 with a debit/credit card. Campers also may continue to use the current system of first come-first served and pay by cash, check or debit/credit card at the campground.

The recent construction of a cell tower nearby makes online reservations at the popular campground possible. Online reservations offer several benefits, including the ability to book reservations one year in advance. This will reduce the incidence of customers arriving at the campground only to learn it’s full. Customers can choose the date(s) and campsite location and receive an admission permit. Online reservations include a nominal convenience fee.  Customers can avoid the fee by making reservations in person; however, due to the popularity of the campground, there may not be any campsites available.

To assist our customers with this transition, the “H Loop” section of campsites southeast of the administration building will continue to operate on a first-come, first-served basis for the 2020 camping season. The H Loop will also move to online reservations beginning in January 2021.

To make online reservations, click the “Register Now” button on the NRPR webpage. You will have to create an account if you don’t already have one, then click on Facilities to get to the Gilbert Ray Campground. No refunds are given.

The campground, located within Tucson Mountain Park, features 130 RV sites with individual 30-amp electrical hook-ups. For campground rules, visit the Gilbert Ray Campground page and select the Rules and Regulation tab.
