ECAP donations top $300,000 mark

Ray VelezNearly 60 percent of County employees gave to the 2019 Employees Care About Pima County (ECAP) Campaign, an all-time high. Employees donated $301,820 to agencies ranging from the Alzheimer’s Association to Youth on Their Own.

The campaign officially ended Dec. 27, though employees can make gifts at any time.

“Our employees give of themselves every day in service to the people of Pima County,” said County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry. “To see our folks go the extra mile and dig deep to make financial contributions to the many ECAP agencies is especially gratifying.”

A new pledge system in which employees created a personalized account caused “a few issues that the ECAP Steering Committee is looking to fix for the next Campaign,” noted ECAP Chair Ray Velez. “The goal is to make pledging as easy as selecting your agency, pledge amount and hitting submit.”

The top 10 agencies supported by County employees in dollars pledged were:
  • Ending Poverty Now Fund
  • Community Food Bank Of Tucson
  • Pima Animal Care Center
  • Youth On Their Own
  • Collective Impact Fund (United Way)
  • Planned Parenthood Arizona - Tucson
  • Catholic Community Services Of Southern Arizona
  • Gospel Rescue Mission
  • Alive Christian Fellowship
  • Humane Society Of Southern Arizona
Paper pledge forms will continue to be made available when access to computers and printers are limited in the field.

An Awards Luncheon is planned this Spring to acknowledge and thank the dozens of coordinators and solicitors who worked on the campaign for three months. Top departments and coordinators will be recognized as well as all solicitors who supported their departments.
