Jennifer Eckstrom, Chief of Staff

Jennifer has worked for Pima County since 2003, where she is responsible for the management and coordination of office staff and organizing constituent services for District 2 of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, as well as developing public policy at the local level.

Jennifer was first elected to the South Tucson City Council at the age of 18, the youngest person to be elected to public office in Arizona at the time. She was re-elected subsequently five consecutive times before retiring in 2013. She has a long history of working in the non-profit sector, with higher education institutions, as a Congressional assistant, and inside various volunteer and activist efforts. Throughout her public and community service career, Jennifer has been instrumental in and dedicated to focusing on critical issues that impact women, children, and families in areas such as health care, employment, education, economic development, and political participation, which have been recognized by numerous organizations. Most recently, she has been dedicated to honoring the memory of her mother, Alice Eckstrom, by raising money for the Hispanic Women’s Corporation for scholarships in public health for students attending the University of Arizona and Pima Community College.

Jennifer was born and raised in the City of South Tucson and is a lifelong Pima County resident. She attended Salpointe Catholic High School and received degree from Pima Community College.
