Read More NewsThe final two weeks of the Valet VITA program offering free tax-preparation assistance have been closed by Pima County’s partner, the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The decision affects these two sites of the Valet VITA (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) program:
- March 17-19 -- Nanini Library, 7300 N. Shannon Rd.
- March 24-26 -- Pima County Youth Employment Center, 340 N. Commerce Park Loop
The United Way is closing VITA sites (valet and in-person) in the county through at least April 6. No valet events are scheduled after that date. Pima County hosted six weekly events at rotating sites this year, starting Feb. 4.
The Valet VITA program is a partnership between Pima County Community Services, Employment and Training (CSET) and the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, offering free tax-preparation assistance for those who have an annual family income of under $66,000. County staffers coordinate a “valet” service, designed to allow people to have their tax documents scanned and uploaded to a tax preparer via a secure server.
The United Way is recommending people use the site getyourrefund.org.
