Pima County has launched PimaWorks.com as part of its effort to respond to the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The website contains links to programs provided by Community Services, Employment and Training (CSET), including the One-Stop Career Center, which earlier this week established a hotline at 520-724-5735 to handle the increase in unemployment. The center’s workforce specialists can offer guidance on accessing the state’s Unemployment Insurance benefits, identifying job leads and making referrals to reach community resources.

PimaWorks.com includes a multitude of business resources from local, regional and federal partners. The County will be adding video and other resources to that page and its other community resources sites to reflect fast-moving changes that affect people’s lives.

“This week has been better for us now that we have the displaced worker hotline in place. It has allowed us to help a lot more people, more effectively, and doing so remotely,” said Michael Gates, Dislocated Worker Program Manager.

“There has been a surge of unemployment claims since the mandated closures and approximately 80 percent of the calls are from people wanting to know how to navigate the Unemployment Insurance claims website. As appropriate, referrals are being made to the Community Action Agency for those needing housing, utility, or other emergency service."
