Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation will open two of its shooting range facilities this Saturday, May 16.

The Southeast Regional Park will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday, beginning May 16.  The Park includes the Southeast Regional Park Rifle and Pistol Range, the Southeast Regional Park Archery Range, and the Southeast Clay Target Center. All will be open this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Shooter at rangeMay16-17.  The hours of operations will be:
    • Southeast Regional Park Rifle and Pistol Range and Archery Range - 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    • Southeast Clay Target Center -  7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Current staffing levels support opening the east side facilities two days per week. The ranges will open additional days as availability of qualified staff increases.

The Tucson Mountain Park Rifle and Pistol Range remains closed but will re-open once staffing levels sufficiently improve.  The Virgil Ellis Rifle and Pistol Range in Ajo and the Tucson Mountain Park Archery Range have remained open since both are unstaffed.

Visitors and shooters should prepare to follow Coronavirus protocols on the ranges, emphasizing social distancing. Social distance hosts on staff will assist customers with the new procedures.

New volunteers have recently answered the call to join the program, but the Shooting Sports Program still encourages shooters to inquire about volunteer opportunities. Call Cliff Gyves, Shooting Sports Program Director, at (520) 724-5752 or Butch Jensen, Shooting Range Manager, at (520) 724-5750.
