The Regional Flood Control District (District) has completed a remapping of federal floodplains in the Red Butte/Saginaw Hill area.

    Letter of Map Revision (LOMR)

A LOMR, Case No. 19-09-0046P, which amends Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), became effective on May 27, 2020.  The LOMR map revision area is centered around the intersection of West Irvington Road and South Sheridan Road, and is bounded by West Ajo Highway to the north.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency mapped the original FIRM area in 1989 with approximate methods.  Using two-dimensional modeling, the District has removed 240 structures and approximately 700 acres from the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), which requires flood insurance for federally backed mortgages; 10 structures were added to the SFHA.

    Technical Support Data Notebook (TSDN)

The mapping area is approximately nine square-miles, centered around the intersection of West Ajo Highway and South Kinney Road. Flood insurance is not required for parcels or structures located in a regulatory floodplain. However, a Floodplain Use Permit, a document issued by the District that authorizes a specific improvement, is required within a regulatory floodplain or erosion hazard area.
