  • Nov. 8 Workforce Investment Board meeting to focus on veterans' employment, services

    Military veterans’ employment and services will be the topic addressed by a panel at the Pima County Workforce Investment Board meeting on Friday, Nov. 8.

    The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in Rooms 109-112 at Pima Community College’s Community Campus, 401 N. Bonita Ave. It usually concludes by 9 a.m. and is open to the public.

    Panel members will include Michael Espinosa, State Director at U.S. DOL/VETS (Department of Labor/Veterans’ Employment and Training Service); Bob McGill chief financial officer at HDS Inc.; Art Burrola of Pima County’s Kino Veterans’ Workforce Center; and a representative from the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board is appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions.

    One-Stop works with employers in local growth, high-demand industry occupations to address their current and future workforce needs.
