Pima County Department of Transportation discovered a large bee
hive today, in one of the trees designated for removal. The hive has been
treated but will require 36 hours before they can be moved. The work schedule
remains the same, however, the road closure has been pushed back slightly.
As a reminder, the trees identified by the Department are
considered to be in a vulnerable condition and have become a public safety
concern. Consequently, several trees along Camino de la Tierra will be removed
from the county right of way.
Schedule: work will
be performed between September 14 and September 18. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m.
**Road Closure: Camino de
la Tierra between Mulberry Tree Lane and Las Palmas Drive will be closed on
Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18, from 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. to
allow heavy equipment and haul vehicles to safely move around the work zone.
The roadway will reopen each day after 4 p.m. Local traffic and emergency
vehicles will be facilitated through the area during the closure, others should
seek alternate routes.
