Outplacement Services

The ARIZONA@WORK Pima County One-Stop system offers pro-active, business-focused, flexible strategies designed to respond to layoffs and closures, by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate aid to employers and their affected workers.

The Pima County Business Services Team works with employers and employee representatives to quickly maximize resources to minimize disruptions associated with job loss.

Within 48 hours of learning of a substantial layoff or projected business closure, Business Services Team specialists will contact the employer and provide information to affected employees to facilitate access to the ARIZONA@WORK System’s available programs and services. Customized services may be provided at the employer site, will accommodate all work schedules, and provide assistance to the employer and workers throughout the job loss transition. On-site services may include:
  • Management training on conducting a layoff
  • Career Transition Center
  • Orientation to affected employees including re-employment services, how to register for Arizona Unemployment Insurance benefits
  • Coordination of services under the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program for jobs lost due to foreign trade

Rapid Response Services

Alternatives to a layoff are available to businesses that are at risk of laying off employees. The following programs may assist to reduce or completely avoid a layoff or business closure.

Shared Worker Program

For employers that are reducing worker’s hours and to answer questions from affected employees about partial unemployment benefits.

Incumbent Worker Training

Rapid Response services are provided to employers that includes strategies for incumbent worker training focusing on layoff aversion.

If an employer contacts the Rapid Response Coordinator and indicates there is a possible layoff or probability that a layoff will occur, incumbent worker training is an option to avert layoffs by transitioning employees to other positions that will not be eliminated. The employer agrees to training employees in new skills so he/she may transition into another position and avert layoff.

    Technical Assistance

    To assist employers that are at risk of downsizing or closure, to develop and implement strategies to avoid or reduce layoffs.
