  • Departments get creative to drum up support for annual ECAP campaign

The annual Employees Care About Pima County campaign is at its halfway mark, so there’s still plenty of time to give. But some departments aren’t wasting any time in finding creative ways to encourage fellow employees to participate.

In Community & Workforce Development, employees donate raffle items like bags of coffee, gift cards and other items. Employees who have pledged are entered in the raffle for those items.

Employees also can take part in a 50/50 raffle. Half the proceeds go to the lucky employee. The other half goes to the charitable agency picked by the winner.

Folks in the Health Department do similar small raffles to encourage employees to turn in their pledge forms. They’ll also be getting into the holiday spirit by encouraging employees who have pledged to decorate their doors or cubicles for Halloween. Employees can send in photos of their decorations and the Health Department’s ECAP solicitors and coordinators will randomly select winners.

Upcoming prizes include Thanksgiving turkeys, homemade fudge, and other goodies.

Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation also is asking employees to have some holiday fun this Halloween. Staff pay $3 to decorate their cubicle or door for Halloween, then another $1 to vote. The employee with the spookiest office gets to choose which charity gets the funds that have been raised.

So far, the County's ECAP campaign has raised more than $125,000. There’s still a ways to go to hit the goal of $333,000.

Make your gift through the United Way/Pima County ECAP site. You also can download a paper pledge form or an electronic pledge form.

Looking for ideas on how to jump-start the campaign within your department? Contact your department’s solicitor or coordinator. Or you can reach out to members of the ECAP leadership team at ECAP@pima.gov.
