catPIMA COUNTY –Pima Animal Care Center is moving the Black Fur Day sales online this year. Starting Nov. 27, there will be social media posts on PACC’s Black Fur Day Facebook event page featuring available pets. This sale continues through Monday, Nov. 30.

“We saw great interest in the Whisker Wednesday events over the summer, which tells us there is still a need for virtual events during this pandemic,” said Monica Dangler, Interim Director of Animal Services. “For people who want a pet but don’t want to spend a lot of time in public, this is the event for you!”

People who are interested in adopting these pets can ask questions on those posts. The pets’ fosters and volunteer/staffer advocates will be on standby to answer those questions. Contact information will also be provided in the posts for potential meet and greets. Adoption fees for adult pets will be $0. There is an additional $20 per adopted dog for a licensing fee. Puppies and kittens will have $50 adoption fees.

“This is also a great way to get our foster pets seen because they aren’t physically at the shelter right now,” Dangler said. “The best place for a pet is in a home. Foster pets are usually much happier and healthier. We have been so grateful to the hundreds of people who have opened up their homes to foster pets since March.”

Because foster pets are not physically at the shelter, meet and greets and adoptions can take place anywhere that the foster and potential adopter would like to go over that weekend.

“Since the shelter will be closed for Thanksgiving, this gives potential adopters a way to take home a pet that day and avoid large crowds at the same time,” Dangler said.

For anyone who cannot foster or adopt, they can make a financial donation to Friends of Pima Animal Care Center. Friends of PACC is the official nonprofit partner to Pima Animal Care Center, and relies on grants and individual donations to support the life-saving work of the shelter. People can make their donations at

PACC will be closed on Thursday. Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 for the holiday. All emergency calls on Thanksgiving and Black Friday can be directed to (520) 724-5900 and press 4.
