What’s The Scoop?

August 1997 The ScoopRemember when Brooks Keenan was appointed director of both the Transportation Department and the Regional Flood Control District? We wrote about it back in the August 1997 issue of The Scoop, the predecessor of today's eScoop.

Keenan -- featured on The Scoop's front page in his power tie -- had a hand in projects all over Pima County, including the Arizona Cancer Center, the Gates Learjet factory, NASA's Apollo Space Vehicle Tracking Station on Mount Lemmon, and numerous schools, hospitals, office buildings and hotels.

He also participated in the historic renovation of Old Main on the University of Arizona campus, directed the renovation of St. Philip's in the Hills Church, and Sam Hughes Elementary School.

Today, the Transportation Department and Regional Flood Control District are two distinct departments. Ana Olivares leads the Transportation Department. Suzanne Shields runs the Flood Control District.

We’ll profile a different front page in each issue of our current eScoop. Click on the image to see a PDF of the August 1997 front page of The Scoop.
