Health and Community Services
The areas under the Health Department banner provide myriad services like the operation of clinics, food safety inspections, health education assistance, preventative health services, health professional resources, animal care, birth/death certificates, and post-mortem examinations. Many of the County’s health services operate under mandate of state law and in coordination with the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Works to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our community through leadership, collaboration, and education, treating the diverse populations we serve with compassion and respect.
Provides accurate, timely, compassionate and professional death investigation services for the citizens of Pima County.
Makes substantial investments in improving the availability and accessibility of behavioral health care through involvement in many community initiatives that seek to improve the quality of care in our community for our most vulnerable citizens.
Provides timely service to residents and compassionate care to animals, while working to support public safety, find homes for homeless animals and educate the community about responsible pet ownership.
Community services
The several departments under the banner of Community Services perform many functions including housing services, workforce development, and neighborhood reinvestment. These departments also work in planning and preparation for emergency responses and manage a region-wide public safety communications network. Community Services also includes tourism promotion and managing the County’s Kino Sports Complex.
Connects people to a network of supports and services essential for learning, working, living and thriving in Pima County. The core values of CWD are customer service, continuous improvement, empathy, and pragmatism. CWD is organized into seven interwoven divisions.
Works closely with other Pima County departments and Visit Tucson to enhance the economic welfare of Pima County citizens and businesses by collaborating on tourism-related efforts. The department is housed in the Historic Pima County Courthouse, also home to the Southern Arizona Heritage and Visitor Center.
Born as a baseball-centric facility in 1997, Kino Sports Complex has evolved into a premier multi-purpose venue used year-round for a variety of professional and amateur sports, and cultural events. It is currently the largest sports and entertainment venue in Southern Arizona.
Enables over 60 Public Safety and Public Service agencies from Tucson to Ajo, from Sahuarita to Mount Lemmon, and from the Rincon Valley to Avra Valley, to talk to each other by radio in real time on a single system, regardless of their jurisdiction boundaries.
Works to prevent the loss of life and reduce property damage due to man-made, technological and natural disasters. OEM also assist municipalities and local governments with developing plans to ensure the highest level of preparedness.
