  • The status of vaccinations in long-term care facilities

Vaccinations for this 1A group are underway and will continue, even as Pima County prepares to start delivering shots to the priority 1B group by Jan. 15.

CVS and Walgreens are administering the vaccines on-site for the various long-term care and skilled-nursing facilities, starting with the largest facilities. The vaccine allotment for long-term care facilities comes from the federal government and is separate from the allotment our Health Department receives from the state. These are two concurrent processes.

So, while the County will start to move into Phase 1B, that won’t affect the doses available for the long-term care group.
