    TSA clubhouseMore than 350 people turned out Friday, Jan. 3, for the grand opening of the Ann Kathryn Schmidt Kickin’ It Clubhouse at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, 3482 E. River Road.

    Supervisor Ray CarrollPima County Supervisor Ray Carroll, District 4, and retired District 1 Supervisor Ann Day spoke at the ceremony.

    The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted last year to lease an old building at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park to TSA at no charge for 20 years in exchange for TSA’s improvements.

    Retired Supervisor Ann DayTSA raised funds to renovate the building and furnish it for use by young people who play and practice soccer at the park. The clubhouse now includes a study area, workout room, offices, a meeting room and an area for coaches to review Workout roomgame film.

    The clubhouse is named for Tucson Soccer Academy President Ted Schmidt’s wife, who was a TSA team manager for eight years until she died from breast cancer on her birthday on Jan. 3, 2011.
