  • Road Work on Cardinal Avenue Begins on May 21st

    Pavement PreservationBeginning Friday, May 21, between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor, Granite Construction, Inc., will be performing road repair work on Cardinal Avenue.

    • May 21 through May 27, work will take place on Cardinal Avenue between Bilby Road and Hermans Road.
    • May 28 through June 11, work will take place on Cardinal Avenue between Irvington Road and Nebraska Street.

    The work will consist of setting traffic control, lowering utilities, milling and repaving and temporary striping. Thermo striping is scheduled for the week of June 28.

    Motorists can expect reduced speed, lane restrictions and a pilot vehicle assisting motorists through the work zone. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work.

    In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

    In Fiscal Year 2020/2021, the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Transportation Department allocated $56 million in road repair and preservation funding for the Road Repair and Preservation Program.
