The Pima County Health Department is teaming up with the Sunnyside Unified School District, Sunnyside School District Foundation, and the offices of Pima County District 2 Supervisor Dr. Matt Heinz and Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres to host a Community Resource Fair featuring free COVID-19 vaccines.

The event will be held June 19 at Gallego Intermediate Fine Arts Magnet School, 3700 E. Alvord Road, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The fair is open to anyone in the community and no appointments or reservations are necessary.

Other partners include the Community Food Bank and Partners in Health.

Anyone 12 and older can be vaccinated. The Health Department will provide additional community resources such as Health Start information for families with young children or who are expecting, car seat safety information and registration, and materials on teen driving safety.

"The COVID-19 vaccine is just one aspect of protecting yourself, your family and your community," said Dr. Theresa Cullen, the Pima County Health Department Director.

"These community resource fairs are a great way to combine multiple services offered by the Health Department, Pima County and its many community partners. We hope the convenience of holding a one-stop shop will allow people to take advantage of services available to them."

Pima County’s Community & Workforce Development Department will be on hand with information on rental and utility assistance. People who attend can also learn more about the Pima Early Education Program Scholarships (PEEPS) program, which assists low-income families with paying for high-quality preschool for children ages 3-5.

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona will provide food assistance to those in attendance. Community agencies will have giveaways, Eegee’s drinks for kids, raffle prizes and much more. University of Arizona mascots Wilbur and Wilma are scheduled to be at the event from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
