    Road Widening
The Pima County Department of Transportation, along with its contractor, Borderland Construction, will begin the roadway improvement construction project on South Houghton Road from I-10 interchange to Andrada Polytechnic High School.

    Project Activity

Starting Thursday, July 22 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, the contractor will be clearing and grubbing vegetation, potholing for utilities, placing caution barriers and mobilizing their equipment to the project site. Traffic will remain in the current configuration while the contractor builds the new south bound lanes, west of the roadway, along with the drainage improvements.

    Project Scope

Improvements will include widening of South Houghton Road from a 2-lane roadway to a divided 4-lane roadway, a separated multi-use path that will connect to the loop, drainage and intersection improvements. The project is expected to be completed late winter of 2022/2023.
