Need a reason to adopt a pet from PACC? We’ve got several
It’s a great time to adopt a pet from the Pima Animal Care Center. The shelter is in its busiest time of year, taking in 75 to 100 pets every day. The shelter typically opens with a handful of available kennels every day, and each day PACC gets out some 10 to 20 fewer pets than come into the shelter.
Therefore, we’d like to offer a few reasons why you should stop by PACC, even if it’s “just to look.”
- Adopting a pet is good for your health!
- You get a discount at Petco. Petco Love provides discounts for in-store purchases for new adopters at PACC!
- Shop at Central Pet and half the proceeds stay right in the shelter by going to Friends of PACC, the shelter's official nonprofit partner
- The pets adopted from PACC have already had many potentially expensive services already performed. When you adopt a PACC pet, your new furry friend has already been: spayed/neutered; microchipped; vaccinated; and gets one free vet visit with a participating veterinary clinic.
- Many pets have no adoption fees year-round. Pets that have been in the shelter for two weeks or longer and pets that are 5 years or older will always have zero adoption fees. There is a $20 licensing fee per adopted dog.
- Kitten and puppy season is here, so if you foster a mother and her babies or a litter of puppies/kittens, you can get first pick!
- Adopting is convenient! No appointment is needed. You can just walk in any time PACC is open.
- Can’t adopt, foster or donate? You can always buy something that also helps PACC pets. Check out our Amazon wish list.
- Buy something fun for yourself and help our animals at the same time.
