    Mission

    The Utilization Management & Claims (UMC) Division is responsible for managing payment for healthcare services provided to individuals in custody of the Sheriff’s Department at Pima County Adult Detention Center (PCADC), Adult Correctional (ACORR) and Pima County Juvenile Detention Center (PCJDC), and for Court Ordered Evaluation (COE) Services, and forensic services provided to Victims of Crime (VOC).







    Adult Correctional (ACORR) Healthcare


    UMC manages the payment process for detainees in custody of the Sheriff department, specifically for:
    • Healthcare provided off-site at hospitals, physician offices and some transportation services;
    • Coordinating coverage with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) for inpatient services provided to individuals who qualify under the AHCCCS Federal Financial Participation (FFP) Program; and
    • Contracted psychologists who provide Restoration to Competency (RTC) services ordered by the court.

    UMC also bills for RTC services for those Arizona counties who have entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Pima County.

    Court Ordered Evaluation Services (COE)

    PCBH manages the utilization review and payment process for services provided to individuals undergoing court ordered evaluation (COE) Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) §36-545.04, which include inpatient COE and outpatient COE.

    Victims of Crime (VOC)

    PCBH manages the payment process for services provided to Victims of Crime (VOC), pursuant to ARS 13§1414 and housing assistance for victims of domestic violence.

    Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) provide forensic interviews and examinations for children who are victims of neglect, abuse and sexual assault.

    Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA) provide forensic interviews and examinations for adults who are victims of sexual assault.

    Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse provides housing assistance for individuals and families who are victims of domestic violence.
