UMC manages the payment process for detainees in custody of the Sheriff department, specifically for:
- Healthcare provided off-site at hospitals, physician offices and some transportation services;
- Coordinating coverage with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) for inpatient services provided to individuals who qualify under the AHCCCS Federal Financial Participation (FFP) Program; and
- Contracted psychologists who provide Restoration to Competency (RTC) services ordered by the court.
UMC also bills for RTC services for those Arizona counties who have entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Pima County.
